WELCOME TO PARADISE LOST
’ "Welcome To Paradise Lost" re-envisions an alternate reality version of my teenage bedroom fused with the Garden of Eden- a sort of dreamlike utopic space to heal the inner teenager. This is not about nostalgia for a lost time... my teenage years were a total fucking nightmare. This is more of an exercise in conjuring a ritual space for an alternate genesis to bloom, an interdimensional portal where traumatized teenager metamorphoses into trickster psychopomp on the disheveled underworld journey to uncover a lost spirit of freedom and "fuck-itness" and reclaim its edenic power...”
Exhibited at Spring/Break Art Fair, NYC May 2025
Throughout the seven day duration of the fair, I “lived” in the space and anyone was invited to hang out with me in my room, jam, noodle on guitar, listen to tapes, take a power nap or just zone out. It was an exercise in “not-doing”, of going back to a sort of zen-like state of beingness and non-acheivement, a “beginner’s mind”.
The piece culminated in a performance of songs from “Welcome To Paradise Lost” on top of my bed
