RAGE PEACE MIXTAPE PARTIES

I had this idea after years of making mixtapes to make a live communal mixtape where a bunch of friends and strangers get together and bring records and we all go around in some fun non-linear fashion and play a song while hitting record on the tape machine. To me, making a mixtape is super intimate, performative and almost like making a sculpture in time, or raising conversations across times, across space, even with the dead. I could only imagine making it with a group of like-minded people might elevate it to a ceremonial ritual, a sonic dialogue, an exquisite corpse poem, or even a group exorcism. I am curious about exploring the mixtape as a post-modern communal spiritual ritual, in the vein of Dan Graham or Beuys. An exercise in utopia. In unity. In community. In harmony. In telepathy. In humanity. Even if only for a brief moment in time.
